Our season is scheduled to start on Saturday the 6th of November.

This season things will be run differently regarding our parent assistance. The new system is how athletic competitions are run at most clubs, region, state, national, and international levels. The intention is for this system to engage more parents and get them more involved in their athlete’s sport, while enlightening everyone to the fact that all tasks are quite simple. It is not the Olympics!
As many of you are aware, most weeks we have a select few parents/guardians multi-tasking to fill all duties. A lanyard system will be introduced. All parents will collect a lanyard on entry at the Covid check-in tent. The lanyard will have a duty description and a QR code to scan to record their contribution. Competition will not begin until there are enough assistants on the arena for events to run. The online roster will be available for those that would like to reserve their duty, but this will only be available on a week-by-week basis.
Each group will have one group leader who will record the results as in the past. Other roles will be fixed for the duration of the morning, for example, Long Jump Pit Raker/Shotput Spiker/High Jump Assistant. We have groups of athletes whose parents act as event officials/starters/timers every week, and in those instances, no parents are available to take the group. The new system should solve this issue, as well as easing the load on the select few who continually perform multiple duties in one morning.

This season will be a lot different to any athletics we have experienced before.
As many of you will be aware, in the past we have had lots of trouble finding enough parents/guardians to help run our weekly meet. Under the current circumstances, the amount of helpers required to run this season will increase dramatically. But, we want to get our athletes out on the track so we need your help to make this happen!
– This season, only attendees essential to the running of competition are allowed at meets.
– The presence of parents/guardians is required for the safe conduct of sanctioned Little Athletics activities. Hence, all parents/guardians will be required to assist in some capacity. Please don’t feel overwhelmed by this, it is not the Olympics. If there are any questions/queries at the time, please ask a committee member for assistance.
– Please note: No spectators are allowed by law.
Athlete age groups will be a maximum of ten. This does not include parent helpers or event officials. So, if the under 13 boys group has 14 athletes, they will be split into two groups.
As per last season, we will be using the Signup website for parents to roster themselves on for duties. We will share the Signup link once registrations are open. There will be more slots for each age group to allow for spiking, raking, recording and cleaning.
We will also require parent helpers for our Under Six On Track program, which will run up until Christmas.
If we don’t have all slots filled prior to a meet, we will need to put people’s names on the roster.
The canteen will NOT be running at meets until further notice.
We are working towards a November season commencement date. We will let everyone know via Facebook and email as soon as we have a date and registrations open.

Our trusty circular timer, Trudi, is retiring at the end of this season. We are looking for any parents willing to be her apprentices and learn the ropes for next season. It’s not a difficult job, but some helpful tips from someone that has done it for years will definitely be an advantage. Please contact us if you are interested.
It was great to see so many smiling faces yesterday for our first meet back after the holidays!
Just a reminder for those parents that are yet to sign up for duties to please do so. Thank you to the same parents doing duties each and every week, but it would be great for those that haven’t signed up to do so when it suits them, rather than us filling your name in when we have a spot unfilled. The remainder of the season dates are on the site so there’s no excuses. There are still lots of spots available for next Saturday.

Next Saturday while competition is running, our annual Relayathon will be happening. This entails athletes, parents and spectators keeping a relay baton moving around the oval for the duration of competition. There will be a donation tin available for anybody wishing to donate and all monies raised will be donated to the Royal Childrens Hospital Good Friday Appeal. So Mums, Dads, Grandparents and friends make sure you bring your running/walking shoes to help us keep the baton moving for as many laps as we can!

For those Under 6-8’s interested in the Junior Carnival held at Berwick on Saturday 16th February, here is the link again. The athletes do events and receive Ribbons, Show Bag and Certificate.
